Internship Positions:
Choice Corps Volunteer Manager

NARAL Pro-Choice California is seeking a long-term, part-time volunteer to serve as our Choice Corps Manager. This key position would support our staff in maintaining and expanding our Choice Corps program. Choice Corps is our elite network of volunteers and activists who work on specific projects in their communities and receive regular updates, trainings and information from the state office. Duties would include setting up meetings for our State Director and Public Affairs Manager, supporting current Choice Corps members and recruiting new members. This position also identifies and recommends topics and organizing strategies. 

 

This is an ideal position for someone looking to segue into the workforce and gain hands-on experience with an active Choice network in the state. A minimum of 15-20 hours per week is required along with a 4-6 month commitment. This position is unpaid and is to start immediately.

Communications Intern

The Communications Intern will work with the State Director and the Public Affairs Manager. This position helps maintain NARAL Pro-Choice California’s online presence by posting approved content to our website, Facebook, and MySpace pages. This position includes writing press releases and media advisories, updating press contacts and arranging meetings with editorial boards. This person will also be responsible for working in our communications database and working in new media. This is also a highly research-oriented position that includes weekly searches for pro-choice articles and current news, as well as finding information to include in the writing of our Pro-Choice Pulse.

 

A minimum of 15-20 hours per week is required along with a three month commitment. The start date is the first week of June. This position is unpaid.

Development Intern

NARAL Pro-Choice California is seeking a development intern who will help research donors, assist with donor prospecting and prepare for donor meetings. The intern will assist with updating the donor database, managing the acknowledgement letter process, editing and creating development materials, assisting with event management and other various tasks. This intern must be adept in using a variety of online tools to compile background and capacity information about potential donors. This position may also entail assistance in NARAL Pro-Choice California and America’s special events management. Duties may include vendor and volunteer management, preparation of budgets and check requests, communications (drafting solicitation letters), and general administrative support.

 

NARAL Pro-Choice CA is the political leader of the pro-choice movement in California. The development intern will gain in-depth knowledge of reproductive rights, have the opportunity to work closely with the progressive donor community, and join a team of experienced political and development professionals.  
 

A minimum of 10-15 hours per week is required along with a three month commitment. The start date is the first week of June. This position is unpaid.

Elections Cooridnator Intern
NARAL Pro-Choice California is seeking interns to work directly with the State Director to implement our campaign program throughout the state. This includes working directly with campaigns, recruiting volunteers, and organizing phone banks and precinct walks.  Campaigns will include statewide constitutional offices, state legislative races, and targeted ballot initiatives.
 

A minimum of 15-20 hours per week is required along with a commitment to work through the November election. The start date is the first week of June. This position is unpaid.

Fundraising and Events Intern
NARAL Pro-Choice California is seeking direct support for all of NARAL Pro-Choice California & America's special events.  This position includes fundraising, vendor and volunteer management, finance (preparation of budgets and check requests), communications (drafting solicitation letters), and general administrative support.  This intern will also manage the filing system for the development team, all event binders, donor records, and help manage information in our donor database.   
 

A minimum of 15-20 hours per week is required along with a three month commitment. The start date is the first week of June. This position is unpaid.

Legislative Intern

NARAL Pro-Choice California is seeking an intern to work directly with the State Director on legislative issues and PAC activities. Duties will include writing letters of support and opposition, tracking activities in the Capitol, and reporting to the State Director when relevant hearings and deadlines occur. In addition, this position will require some writing for our Choice Action Network (CAN). This position will also review material on 2010 races and maintain files on potential key races. These files will include press clippings, fundraising reports, and campaign staff contacts.

 
A minimum of 15-20 hours per week is required along with a three month commitment. The start date is the first week of June. This position is unpaid.

Organizing Intern

NARAL Pro-Choice California is seeking a part-time volunteer to serve as our Organizing Intern. This key position would support our staff, working especially alongside our Public Affairs Manager with the development of key projects around the state that support choice.  Duties would include writing action alerts, organizing house parties and briefings, conducting research, supporting choice corps and engaging college and university campus activists.

 

A minimum of 10-15 hours per week is required along with a three month commitment. The start date is the first week of June. This position is unpaid.
